Aerobic Biological Treatment of Organic Waste in Bio-Cells for Compost Production

TECHNOLOGY DESCRIPTION:
This is a controlled ventilation process of aerobic biological treatment, performed in enclosed spaces – reactors (garage type). The system is modular, which allows expansion and flexibility in the seasonal variation in quantity of waste. The aeration of the waste mass is controlled through a pipe network, which is embedded in the floor of the reactors. The processed air, which passes through the material, is sent to the biofilter in order to be deodorized and purified before being released to the atmosphere. Each reactor has a waste wetting system, a leachate collection system as well as an automatic adjustment and control system of the treatment. Through biological treatment is achieved reduction in the mass of waste by 36%. The waste temperature maintain above 60°C, for a continuous period, which leads to the purification of the waste and to the destruction of pathogenic microorganisms. The result is the production of a stabilized and odorless material which can be used as fertilizer.
